Myrtice Nell Nix Stachura

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Myrtice Nell Nix Stachura, age 82, who went to be with our lord on Sept 24, 2020 - with her son Ronnie Stachura by her side holding her hand during her passing. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page as a tribute to her life, Higgins Funeral Home LaGrange, Georgia.

Preceded in death was her Daughter Pamela Stachura. Parents: Josh & Myrtle Peek Nix. Brothers: Ray & Paul Nix. Nix sisters: Rosemary Henson, Mary Casey, Shirley Bryant, & Joyce McNew. Nephews and Nieces: Paul Nix, Keith Bryant, & Cindy Northcutt.

She was survived by her son, Ronnie Stachura of LaGrange Georgia, Daughter Christa (Steve) Jarosak, grandchildren Sharon Leavell, Erin Elizabeth Caldwell,Matthew Jarosak and five great grandchildren; with her precious companion dog “Beau”. Brother, Billy (Nancy) Nix - LaGrange Georgia. Sisters, Mae Nix Aultman & Mary Sue Nix Woodard, both of (Southside) Gadsden Alabama. Special nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Myrtice was a devout Christian, member of Welcome Baptist Church LaGrange Georgia. She had a very strong faith and encouraged others to seek the Lord. First & foremost, she was a dedicated mother & grandmother. Her vivacious personality and laughter would always make you happy. She never met a stranger, making friends wherever she would go. Her treasures were not of materialistic nature, it was about God, Family, & Country.

She was born Oct the 13th, 1937 in Alabama City, Alabama. She attended Emma Samson High School. Myrtice and her sister Joyce sang gospel songs in many churches in Gadsden Alabama praising the lord in the 50’s. She was very talented in both voice & dance. She was Miss Gadsden Runner-Up in 1953. As an early adult, she moved to Washington DC - married, raised her children, and had a career.

She retired in 2003, after 27 years of service, working for the United States Navy National Command Center, working for prestigious admirals. Also worked for the National Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. When working there, she would stay after work & visit the wounded sailors, soldiers & marines. She would visit daily to pray, & cry with them - uplifting their spirits.

The family would like to thank Ronnie Stachura, her son, for caring & giving his christian love and devotion to his mom. Hospice nurses for their special care. We’d like to thank Pastor Adam (Amy) Camp, at Rosemont Baptist Church. Pastor Caleb Nickleson & Deacon Morris Thompson, and all of her church family of Welcome Baptist Church for all of their support & prayers. We wanted to thank Jeffrey Higgins for his kindness for handling the cremation at Higgins Funeral Home.

No services will be held at this time. Celebration of life will be at a later date at Welcome Baptist Church in LaGrange, Georgia.
