Lynise Stanley Brown passed away on August 2, 2020. She was born in LaGrange on January 29, 1931 to the late Thomas Edwin Stanley and Louise Hairston Stanley. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Brown and her brothers, Tom Stanley and Pat Stanley.

Mrs. Brown graduated from LaGrange High School. She then went on to earn a Bachelor of Education degree from Georgia State College for Women. She had a career as a schoolteacher and as a media specialist. She served in a number of different school systems impacting innumerable students along the way. After she retired from teaching, she used her time to volunteer at the elementary schools, where she read stories to the young students. Mrs. Brown will be remembered for her quick wit and humor. She was able to make any room a happier place. She was an admitted shop-aholic and had an affinity for yarn, owls, jewelry, pocketbooks, and shoes. She always tried to look her best. She had a talent to crochet and she would give her creations to those she loved. She was a Christian and was a former member of Franklin Road Baptist Church in LaGrange and was an active member of Poplar Springs North Baptist Church in Dublin.

She is survived by her sons, John Stanley Killingsworth (Julie Smith) and Thomas Michael Killingsworth (Denise Killingsworth); her brother, Jim Stanley; her grandchildren, Michelle Touchberry (Billy Touchberry), Tarl Killingsworth, Tony Killingsworth, Jill Ricks, and Sammy Ricks; her great grandchildren, Dalton Touchberrry, Nathan Touchberry, Justin Ricks, and Ella Killingsworth; her many beloved nieces and nephews. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this challenging time.

The graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at noon at Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange. Pastor Frank Sledge will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Special Olympics, Attn: Donor Development, 1133 19th Street, N.W., Washington, DC 20036 or to Poplar Springs North Baptist Church, 289 GA-338, Dublin, GA 31021
