Obituary

Frances S. Evans passed away on July 21, 2020. Mrs. Evans was born in LaGrange, Georgia on June 5, 1930 to the late Henry Pierce Sledge and Eunice Peppers Sledge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Joseph Alvin Evans, her brothers Avery Sledge and Colin Sledge, her sister Juanita Kenney and a great grandson.

Frances loved her family, her church, but most of all her Lord. She enjoyed baking cakes and catering weddings. Frances was employed for many years at International Playtex and in textiles, but her greatest joy was serving as a greeter at Walmart in LaGrange.

Survivors include her children, Philip Evans (Fredda), Sheril Higgins (Thad), Alan Evans (Becky) and Joey Evans; brothers, Clint Sledge and Rev. Lanny Sledge (Sandra); sisters, Emily Sledge, Sandra Simpson and Carol Klehn (Dave); sister in law, Jeanette Sledge. She delighted in her 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

A graveside Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 10:00 am at the Shadowlawn Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at the graveside. Mrs. Francis was a sweet lady. She was always smiling. She was my Sunday School teacher and I loved her dearly. She and Mr. Evans were the sweetest couple I believe I’ve ever known. God bless this family
